The South Korean government will draw up around 18 million U.S. dollars of emergency funds to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki said Tuesday the government will use the emergency fund set aside for tackling epidemics and help minimize the impact of the disease.
He also vowed to stabilize financial markets should volatilities worsen.
Stocks in Asia fell on Tuesday morning after Wall Street plunged into the red overnight amid fears that the ongoing coronavirus outbreak would hurt China's economic growth and the travel sector.
